Hi Fidelity Genetics

The Hi Fidelity Genetics product used capacitive touch sensors to detect and monitor crop root performance in various climates.

The team at Speed provided custom PCBA and antenna design, firmware development, and designed and developed a robust urethane housing capable of being vibratory driven into hard ground.

Our team also delivered 60 prototype units for rigorous field testing.

  • Industrial Design & Mechanical Engineering

The Hi Fidelity LRT/GRT was a challenging design. Requirements included survivability in all types of outdoor environments, ability to survive flood conditions, being driven into the ground with a motorized driver. Our final solution included a removable radio head housing the sensitive electronics and a replaceable body

  • Electronics Development

Electronics development included customized antenna and PCB that integrated with the capacitive touch sensors to deliver the needed data reliably to the cloud.

  • Prototyping & Validation

Working against a short lead time to deliver 60 fully operational prototypes for a greenhouse test, we design and developed a urethane pouring process and trained our customer to produce their own prototypes in house providing them flexibility for future testing.

  • Design for Manufacturing

We worked with our customer and their supplier to develop a Bill of Materials and also identified suppliers with potting capabilities to seal the electronics for harsh environments.
